WHAT IS A BENIGN PROSTATIC HYPERPLASIA,
benign prostatic enlargement or
BPH?

BPH is a common problem for doctors to try to treat but have trouble curing since drugs are the first advice offered and not life style changes. Most men eventually develop an enlarged prostate and the negative consequences depend on whether they live long enough.

Since the prostate surrounds the urinary tract, BPH often leads to urinary problems with the following unpleasant symptoms such as frequent urination and:

  • Sudden need to urinate and leaking
  • A weak stream that hesitates as it flows
  • Needing to urinate frequently- particularly at night
  • A sudden inability to urinate
  • Sometimes there is pain in pelvic area
  • If left untreated, with a severe case for a long time, other problems can develop including incontinence, bladder or kidney damage or stones or urinary tract infections.
